Botswana is papyrus caressing water and tranquility, matched with dust kicked up by its wildlife in a desperate thirstland. This incredible destination was our first taste of true wilderness as young children, and it is a holiday our family will never forget. It was a journey into the pristine pockets of the delta…. it was fly camping, muddy feet, mokoros and fishing; it was swimming in hippo paths with mokoro polers carefully watching over us and it was listening to the lions roar a few feet from our simple tents. Since then, Botswana has successfully developed its tourism model and is now a highly popular safari destination - for good reason. Due to its fascinating topography and partner in climate, one can journey relatively easily between destinations such as the heritage site of the Okavango Delta, the Linyanti and the Kalahari…on a plane that is…. on foot, vehicle or by boat is an entirely different matter… but can be done, and for the more adventurous we have the perfect travel partners to make this happen for you.

With South Africa to the South, Namibia to the west and north, and Zimbabwe to the east, no map can do the geographical miracle that is Botswana justice. Geography as fascinating as its flora and fauna... A water table that is dependant on rainfall not only within its own borders, but that of a country one away... As well as the movement of tectonic plates... Losing you already? Most explorers fly into Maun. There is a big push to fly you into Kasane... but this really only works for certain areas of the country. If you are coming from further afield than a neighbouring African country, then we suggest your flight heads towards Johannesburg - and then it is a quick flight up to Maun. We do recommend a buffer night... what with winter storms and the perennial technical issues that can hold up a flight, it feels a terrible waste to come all this way and then miss your first night on safari.

November - March
There is an abundance of life, this season vibrates with it. Birds in breeding plumage, animals’ young on tender legs. Breathtaking African thunderstorms make for beautiful imagery of clouds and lightening over the plains. Long evenings with exceptional light and lush vegetation also enhance photographic opportunities.
Central Kalahari is a great destination for wildlife, as well as unrivalled star gazing at this time of year.
